Yen Shui-Long 颜水龍 ( 1903 -1997 ) was born on June 5, in Tainan Taiwan.
|

1916
|
He joined the Teachers'Training School in Tainan Taiwan
|
|
Graduated, he taught two years, then moved to Japan. |
|
|
1922- 1928
|
He enrolled the Tokyo Fine Art School. ( Western Painting Department ) |
|
He continued his studies under the gudance of Fujishima Takeji and Okada Saburosuke. |
|
|
1930
|
Graduated, he boarded the Trans-Siberian Railway, to study in France |
|
at la Grande Chaumière and at the Modern Art Academy. |
|
|
1931
|
He was selected for the Salon d'Automne in France, with two works : |
|
La Jeune Fille - Parc de Montsouris. |
|
|
1932
|
Having had to seek medical treatment in the South of France, and having run out
|
|
of money, he joined Osaka, to work in commercial design at SMOCA Co. Ltd
|
|
|
1933-1944
|
One of his advertisements caught the attention of the governor of Taiwan
|
|
who entrusted him with the task of promoting craft art.
|
|
|
1940
|
He established theSouth-Asia Arts and Crafts Society. |
|
|
1942
|
He married Jin Mao-Zhi; |

|
1945- 1949
|
He was appointed as an assistant Professor atTainan technical College, (actually
|
|
National Cheng Kung University), and taught sketching and the History of Art Craft.

|
Appointed by the government to develop Taiwanese crafts,
|
1954
|
He created a class learning class in Nantou.
|
1957
|
He established Taiwan Handicraft Promotion Center in Taipei.
|
|
|
1961
|
He created a series of mosaic murals as Sport, on the outer wall of the Sport Stadium |
|
- National Taiwan University of Sport; and Art works with motifs about Taiwanese |
|
aborigines. |
|
|
1984
|
He resigned from his teaching position to devote himself to painting and to prepare
|
|
exhibitions. |
|
|
1997
|
Following a surgical operation, on September 24, he passed away at the age of 94
|
|
inTainan, Taiwan.
