1947

Ai Xuan  艾轩  was born on November 11 in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province in China.

He is the son of the poet Ai Qin and the half-brother of Ai Weiwei 艾未未.

1967

He graduated from the Preparatory School of the Central Academy of Fine Arts

( C.A.F.A.) in Beijing.

1969/1973

During the cultural revolution he was sent to Chengdu and discovered the Tibet

which inspired his favorite subjects.

1981

A Man Of Great Will ( oil on canvas) won the silver medal at the second exhibition

National Youth Artists.

1984

1986

Snow ( oil on canvas ) received a mention of honor, at the 8th National Salon in Paris.

1987

He went to the United States, joined the Oklaoma University and hold his first exhibition

1998

2004

With Wang Yidong and Yang Feiyuan he co-fonded Beijing School of realism, renamed  

China School of realism on the initiative of Chen Yifei who joined them the next year. 

His works reached record prices in the Beijing and Hong Kong auctions.
