1918

Wang Qi  王琦 ( 1918-2016 ) aka Wang Ki was born in Chongqing,

 

Sichuan Province  China.

   

1938

Graduated from Shanghai Academy of Art, he studied one year 

 

at Lu Xun Academy of Literature and Arts of Yan'an ( Art Department )

   

1939

He joined the Cultural Work Committee in Chongqing.

   
  He participated to the creation of Chinese Wood Engraver's Research Association;
 

and wrote numerous engraving articles for the Art magazine of which he was editor.

 

He also organized exhibitions of engravings in China and abroad.

   

1946

He worked in the cultural department of the French embassy in Nanjing, then

 

moved as a journalist in Hong Kong.

   

1950 -  1960

He taught at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, in Beijing. ( Print department )
  He was editor- in- chief of the magazines Meishu ( Fine-Arts ) and  Banhua ( printmaking ).

Outstanding Contribution to Chinese New Printmaking Prize.

2003

China Art Golden Award Lifetime Achievement Award.

 

 

2016

He passed away at the age of 98.
