Chen Zhifo 陈之佛 (1895-1963 ) was born in Yuyao, Zhejiang Province, China.

He went to study in Japan.

He entered the Tokyo Imperial Art School. ( Arts and Crafts Department )

|
|
1923
|
After graduation, he returned to China and taught in various institutions:

the Shanghai Oriental Art College, the Guangzhou Art College, the National Central
|
|
|
University of Nanjing, and the Shanghai Art College where he was principal.

|

|
|
Pioneer in the teaching of modern art, he enriched paintingTraditional with

|
|
nuances of Japanese painting and the decorative style of graphic art.

|
In September he participated in the first exhibition organized by the Association

|
Fine Arts of China.

|
|
|
|
|
His paintings of flowers and birds with dense colors and meticulous layout were

highly appreciated.

He organized his own exhibition of painting in March.
