1904

Jiang Zhaohe   蒋兆和 (1904-1986) was born on May 9, in Luzhou, Sichuan Province  China

   

1920

He settled in Shanghai where he lived from his charcoal portraits and advertising drawings

 

while being interested in Western painting.

   

1927

He became friendship with  Xu Beihong 徐悲鸿 ( 1895-1953 ) who inflenced him to study

 

Western Painting.

   

1928

He taught painting at Education School of Nanjing Central University.

1929

Exhibition of street scenes at National Ministry of Education.

1930

He wast transferred to Shanghai Art Schoo, as Drawing Professor.

 

 

1937

Exhibition of his latest works in Beijing.

1943

Exhibition of his famous realistic painting Refugees depicting the hard life of poor people.

 

( Exhibition closed the next day by japanese occupation.)

   

1947

He was appointed Professor at the School of Art in Beijing.

1950

He was appointed Professor at the C.A.F.A.  in  Beijing.
   

1986

On April 15, he passed away at the age of 82, leaving behind him the image of a very

 

committed artist who played an important role in the evolution of Chinese painting.
